<summary>Motive 3.5</summary>

### Motive 3.5.0 Beta 1

#### **Full Feature List** <a href="#text-full-feature-list-0" id="text-full-feature-list-0"></a>

* [**ActiveIO**](/activeio.md) is OptiTrack’s next-generation active tracking platform. ActiveIO devices combine uniquely identifiable active markers with bidirectional communication, automatic firmware updates, onboard IMU data (Inertial Measurement Unit), GPIO support (General Purpose Input/Output), persistent device settings, and real-time device status information. For large-scale VR, simulation, ICVFX (In-Camera Visual Effects), stage tracking, and entertainment environments, ActiveIO makes active tracking easier to deploy, monitor, and manage.
  * **Uniquely Blinking (IO) Markers** - ActiveIO blinks the markers on/off (IO) in binary patterns to uniquely identify individual markers, even in environments with many active devices or IR light sources.
  * **Input and Output (IO) of Data** - Bidirectional communication from the tags allows them to send status and telemetry data back to Motive, including battery level, wireless signal information, and other device metrics. Motive can also send information back to the device, including selection state and configuration updates.
  * **Automatic Firmware Updates** - Motive can now manage firmware updates for ActiveIO devices automatically, helping users deploy new features, bug fixes, and device improvements more easily through Motive software updates.
  * **IMU Data on Every Device** - Every ActiveIO device includes onboard IMU capability for sensor fusion workflows. IMU data can be enabled or disabled depending on the needs of the application and the configuration/scale of the system.
  * **Quality of Service** - The tags now have the ability to send IMU data multiple times per frame while varying the radio channel. This means in environments with heavy wireless traffic, Faraday cages, and other RF interference, there is a tool to improve the connection quality of individual tags.
  * **Compatibility with Active Classic Devices** - ActiveIO devices use the same Pattern Group scheme for choosing marker IDs, enabling older Active Classic devices and newer ActiveIO devices to be used at the same time. Users should take care when configuring mixed systems, as older Active devices might not reliably report their Pattern Group.
  * **Claim, Advertise, and Release** - ActiveIO devices initialize in an advertising state, which means that any instance of Motive (or the Camera SDK) can see the device and claim it. When a device is claimed, that system is the only one that can use the device. Releasing the device puts it back into an advertising state so that a different instance of Motive can claim it. This workflow allows for ActiveIO devices to be moved between systems or locked to a particular system easily. Triple-clicking the device button releases the tag and returns it to advertising mode.
  * **Persistent Device Properties** - Configurations for claimed ActiveIO devices persist between Motive sessions, reducing repeated setup work and helping maintain consistent behavior across projects.
  * **RGB Status LEDs** - ActiveIO devices include three RGB status LEDs that use different colors to communicate device state, including selection, battery level, connection status, and other device information.
  * **Synchronization when Disconnected** - In the case where an ActiveIO device loses connection to the BaseStation, the LEDs remain synchronized with the camera system for several minutes before becoming unsynchronized from the camera frames.
  * **General Purpose Input/Output (IO)** - The GPIO pins on the Tag-8 can transmit back the data going into their ports. This enables things such as binary button presses or analog sensors to communicate data back to Motive. That data can be graphed, recorded, exported, and streamed out of the software.
* **Prime****x****&#x20;260 Camera Family Support** - Motive 3.5 adds support for [Primex 260](/hardware/cameras/ethernet-cameras/primex-260.md), Primex 260W, and Slimx 260 cameras. With 26 MP sensors, the 260 family is designed for premium tracking systems that require exceptional resolution, accuracy, and large-volume performance.
* **Slim****x****&#x20;22 Support** - Adds support for [Slimx 22](/hardware/cameras/ethernet-cameras/slimx-22.md), a compact high-speed camera designed for active tracking workflows. Slimx 22 extends the Slimx family with an active-only option for applications that prioritize speed, scale, and efficient deployment.
* **Deadband Filter** - The new rigid body deadband filter detects when rigid body motion falls below a defined threshold and holds the rigid body static. This is especially useful for ICVFX, broadcast, camera tracking, and other workflows where small fluctuations can become visible when projected over long distances.
* **New Streaming Types** - To support ActiveIO, we have added the ability to stream…
  * **Raw IMU data (inertial measurement unit)** - This unlocks workflows where sensor fusion can be done on the client side.
  * **GPIO data (General Purpose Input/Output)** - This unlocks workflows where button inputs are activated on ActiveIO devices, then sent to game engines or client applications where actions in the game can occur.
  * **Anchor Markers** - This unlocks the ability to better remotely monitor system health using a NatNet Client. A new example client for how to do this will be included with NatNet 4.5.
  * Added the ability to turn off streaming data for individual ActiveIO tag devices to optimize the data stream over NatNet.
  * Added the ability to turn on/off IMU and GPIO data entirely from streaming.
* **USD Export** - Export animation files to [OpenUSD](/motive/data-export/data-export-usd.md) for importing into game engines (for example, [Unreal Engine](/plugins/optitrack-unreal-engine-plugin.md)) and other workflows such as the NVIDIA Omniverse.
* **STL Attached Geometries** - Users can now attach STL geometry files to rigid bodies for improved visualization in engineering workflows.
* **Passive or Active Only Modes** - Added back the ability to have Passive Only and Active Only markers.

### Motive 3.4.0 Beta 1

#### **New Features** <a href="#text-new-features-0" id="text-new-features-0"></a>

* **Range of Motion**
  * **Range of Motion (Bone Refinement) -** Motive now lets you refine joint placement and scale bones on the skeleton so they better match a real performer’s movement. During setup, the actor completes a guided Range of Motion routine that moves each tracked bone to compute more accurate joint locations. These joint locations can be reused across multiple sessions by updating the constraint locations (not bone lengths) using the associated tool in Motive.
  * **Key Pose Detection -** Specific poses are used to help better define certain joints such as elbows, wrists, knees, shoulder, neck, spine, and other bones. This patent pending technique better detects real-world joint locations.
  * **Fully Automated Workflow** - The range of motion process progresses automatically between steps to make the process simple for a single person to perform.
  * **Backup Take Recorded -** Unless otherwise specified, a take with the name of the subject is recorded each time a range of motion is performed. This allows you to easily reprocess the skeleton if needed.
  * **Extra Settings -** Lots of small extra settings have been included to let you customize the experience or debug issues if needed. For instance, you may refine only the constraint locations if bone lengths need to remain fixed.
  * **ROM Quality Properties -** The skeleton asset stores the last range of motion quality as a property for reference.
  * **ROM Hotkey -** Added a hotkey for creating a skeleton and starting the range of motion process at the same time.
  * **Instructions -** There is a small pop-up help window with icons to demonstrate how to use the new range of motion feature as well as an instructional video online.
  * **ROM 3D Visuals -** Live skeleton updates in 3D show the range of motion progress and quality.
  * Added a Refinement tab to the Settings Window > Assets tab for all related properties.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.optitrack.com/whats-new/changelogs.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
