Timeline Pane
In Motive, the Timeline pane can be accessed under the View tab or by clicking
icon on the main toolbar.
Live Mode


Live/Edit
Switches between Live mode and Edit mode. Live mode is used to recording or live-streaming the data. Edit mode is used for playbacks.

Take Name
Sets the name of the next take to be recorded.

Again
Records a new version of the current take (incrementing take name with a “-N” suffix).

Counter
Displays the current timeline position in Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Milliseconds as well as in frames.

Record
Starts/Stops recording.

Delay
Sets a delay, in seconds, between pressing Record and starting the recording. This can be useful if the operator is also part of the scene, to allow the operator to get into place.

Data Types
Determines whether 3D marker and skeletal joint data from the real-time solve will be recorded in the take alongside 2D camera data.
Tip: You can quickly switch between Live and Edit mode by using the "~" hotkey.
Device Scope
For Motive 1.10 and above, when external device(s) are integrated with Motive, live data from integrated devices as well as real-time reconstruction trajectories can be monitored from the Timeline pane. While in the Live mode, open the Editor to view the incoming data, this feature is supported only when external device is detected in Motive.

Edit Mode


Live/Edit
Sets the timeline window to either Live(Recording) mode or Edit(Playback) mode..

First Frame
Sets the scrubber to the first frame of the take.

One Frame Back
Walks the scrubber one frame back from its current position.

Play in Reverse
Plays the current timeline in reverse.

Play
Plays the current timeline forward.

One Frame Forward
Walks the scrubber one frame forward from its current position.
Last Frame
Sets the scrubber to the first frame of the take.

Starting Frame/Ending Frame
Displays the Starting and Ending frame numbers in the timeline scrubber. Setting these will allow the scrubber timeline to be restricted to a smaller portion of the entire take, allowing for greater granularity in use for the scrubber.

Loop
Sets the timeline to loop after it has reached the end. Loop will return to the first frame after reaching the last and continue playing if it is playing forward, and will return to the last frame after reaching the first and continue playing if playing in reverse.

Lock Cursor
Locks the time cursor in the center of the timeline range during playback.

Playback Speed
Sets the speed of playback.

Editor
Opens the editor portion of the Playback window.
Timeline Editor Navigation

Channel View
Switches to the Channel View mode.

Tracks View
Switches to the Tracks View mode.

Show X Channel
Toggle to show/hide X trajectories on selected markers.

Show Y Channel
Toggle to show/hide Y trajectories on selected markers.

Show Z Channel
Toggle to show/hide Z trajectories on selected markers.

Draw Keys
Manual draw trajectory by clicking and dragging on a selected trajectory in the Editor.

Move Selected Keys
Translates trajectories in selected frame region. Select a range and drag up and down on a trajectory.

Delete Selected Keys
Delete selected frame region.

Recenter on frame
(selected range)
Zooms into selected frame region and centers the timeline accordingly

Recenter on frame
Centers the timeline according to the current frame.

Autoscale Graph
Toggle to autoscale X/Y/Z graphs

Show Edit Tools
Opens the Edit Tools pane for post-processing.
Select Marker(s) for Viewing/Editing
Click on a marker in the 3D Viewport or Marker Data List to set as the active marker in the Timeline. Control-click to select multiple markers, and shift-click to select a range of markers.
Double click on a marker from the Marker Data list to zoom to it in the 3D Viewport.
Change Active Frame or Select a Range of Frames
Left click and drag on the timeline graph to select an active range for zooming and looping during playback. (To loop playback within a selected range, you must first zoom in to that selected range.)
Left click and drag on the playback bar to scrub through frames.
Lock the cursor to follow the cursor along the timeline graph, when playing data back within a cropped range of frames.
Frame the Timeline
Press "F" to zoom to the selected range on the timeline.
Press "Shift + F" to frame the complete timeline.
Manually select a range by entering the beginning and ending frames in the text boxes.
Middle click and drag on the timeline graph to pan the framed range forward and backward.

Zoom/Scale
Right click and drag on the timeline graph to free-form zoom in and out. If Autoscale Graph is turned off, panning up and down will ajust vertical scaling for the X, Y, or Z channel.
Middle mouse-click and drag on the playback bar to select a range to zoom to, without changing your current selected range on the timeline graph:
Editor View Modes
Combined View
The Combined View provides X/Y/Z curves for each selected markers in a same plot.
Channel View
The Channel View provides X/Y/Z curves for each selected marker, providing verbose motion data that highlights gaps, spikes, or other types of noise in the data.
Tracks View
The Tracks View is a simplified view that can reveal gaps, marker swaps, and other basic labeling issues that can be quickly remedied by merging multiple marker trajectories together. You can select a specific group of markers from the drop down menu. When two markers are selected, labels can be merged by using
