# ActiveIO Wand Extension Pole Adapter

The extension pole Adapter Kit is used to attach the ActiveIO Wand to a standard extension pole to calibrate volumes that include high vertical spaces in a secure manner.

#### Components

The Adapter kit includes:

* 1 Wand Adapter, with screw
* 1 Black plastic sleeve
* 2 metal pipe hangers
* 2 screws
* 2 bolts
* 1 security cable

We tested the adapter using the 5-24 ft Long Telescoping Extension Pole from Extend-a-Reach. The Adapter should work with any standard extension pole used for painting or cleaning.

#### Secure the Battery Compartment

The adapter attaches to the ActiveIO Wand at the device's battery compartment, which must be secured to prevent it from unscrewing during use.

1. Tighten the battery compartment cap as much as possible.
2. Use a 0.050” Hex Key to tighten the set screw above the cap. See the image, below.

">

After tightening the cap, use the set screw to lock the cap in place.

#### Add the Sleeve

The Adapter Kit includes a small black sleeve that is used to hold the security strap in place.

Snap the sleeve over the smooth part of the wand handle, just above the hand grip.

">

The sleeve should rest just above the grip.

#### Attach the Safety Strap

The safety strap is a cable that attaches to both the ActiveIO Wand and the extension pole. While it is important to ensure that the battery compartment and the extension pole are both screwed in tightly, the strap provides extra protection should the ActiveIO Wand separate from the extension pole during use.

1. Snap one of the pipe hangers over the sleeve added in the previous step.
2. Align one end of the safety strap in the center of the pipe hanger's screw holes.

3. Thread the screw through the pipe hanger and the safety strap.
4. Attach and completely tighten the bolt.

5. Extend the first section of the extension pole a couple of inches and snap the second pipe hanger below the top collar, as shown below.
6. Thread the second screw through the pipe hanger and the other end of the safety strap and bolt it tightly in place, as done on the wand itself.

#### Connect the Wand Adapter

The adapter has a screw hole on one end to hold the extension pole and connections for the ActiveIO Wand on the other.

1. Slide the narrow end of the adapter onto the end of the wand battery cap, turning the adapter until the dowels lock into place.

">

2. Using a 3/16” hex driver or hex key, insert the screw through the end of the adapter and screw it into the end of the wand, securing the adapter in place.

">

#### Attach the Extension Pole

Screw the extension pole into the adapter on the wand assembly until snug.

">

Tighten the knob on the side of the adapter to lock the connection in place and prevent the threads from backing out.

The device is now ready for use.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.optitrack.com/activeio/activeio-hardware/activeio-wand-extension-pole-adapter.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
